Narrative Workshop for Coaches - Singapore

Run by Sue Macmillan, Narrative Practitioner

Venue: The Drama Centre, 100 Victoria Street, 05-01 National Library Building, Singapore 188064

Cost: SGD200 To foster intensive learning there are only 16 places available (minimum 10) - so book early to avoid disappointment!

Email: suemac37@msn.com

You will leave this workshop with an understanding of the impact the stories we tell have on our own and our clients lives; how we feel, think and behave with other people. We will look at the neuroscience and emotional registers in current theory and techniques to help our clients gain the impact they want.

1. Group 4 hr Workshop - Theory, Methodology and Practice Session

2. Skype 1:1 follow up 1 month later with each attendee - to look at case studies in order to embed the learning

The workshop is structured to deepen our understanding of how to move clients from the static perception of a personal narrative to one that is dynamic and relational allowing them to tell their story in a new way.

It will be an interactive and practical session in which we will learn more about ourselves as well as taking away practical tools to use with clients such as: the extended use of their metaphors, re-authoring conversations, and narrative approaches to time.

Here are some of the comments from delegates on the previous courses, run in 2017:

  • "Imaginative, thought provoking, enabling”
  • "Really interesting and powerful in looking at our dominant stories and recognising how these can change as we move on."
  • "I found this workshop incredibly stimulating and energising. Sue is an excellent and intuitive coach, able to tailor the course to suit the pace and particular interests of the attendees.”

Christmas Linocut Workshop

How about treating yourself a day with like-minded people, a homemade lunch some mulled wine, and the chance to learn a new skill and to hand make your Christmas cards??

Would you like to make your own hand-printed Christmas cards or gift tags? Can you do basic tracing? Then you are fully skilled to make beautiful linocut Christmas cards. Lino cutting is the most accessible form of printing; in less than an hour you can make a wonderful design by using special gouging tools to remove slivers of rubber from an easy-cut lino block.

Linocut enthusiast and trainer Hannah McDowall will support you during a day workshop at Sipala.

We will produce a few lino-blocks and other design ideas for example and you are free to use them too. For the first of the worshop Hannah will help you to cut your own 10cm x 10cm design and will provide lots of inspirational images to get you started.

After lunch the second half of the workshop is for printing. We will provide red and white card, and a few different ink colour options.

Everyone will go away with at least 10 Christmas cards. But even better you will go away with your lino block; which means you can make more cards whenever you want.

Leadership with Integrity Course

Leadership with Integrity Course

We're delighted to announce that we are hosting another six month long NLP Leadership Course delivered by the Fields of Learning team led by Catherine Doherty and assisted by Sue Macmillan.

Life changes and can be challenging at times. We all seek to act with integrity as we make choices. Leading is not a simple capability. Being able to communicate outcomes in a compelling way is essential to lead others. Leaders must align words and actions to be seen as congruent.

And yet there is no single formula for leading with integrity. You must first discover yourself what you want to achieve and then explore how others tick and are motivated to act and finally be able to stand back and look at the wisdom of an intended action before it is taken. Once all this is done then you can begin to lead and live life with integrity.

Reflective Practice Workshop using Traditional Stories

Reflective Practice Workshop using Traditional Stories

This is an experiential workshop for coaches and therapeutic practitioners designed to provide space for you to reflect on your own life and practice. Traditional stories relate, in potent images, the things of life that matter. They have travelled on the lips of tellers for thousands of years, teaching the community how to live fully human lives with all the paradox that brings. The mythologists say, the practice of retelling these tales creates new energy, joining our own smaller stories of paradox to the bigger one of the traditional story, like rivers to the sea.
The workshop will offer a gentle opportunity to experience the power of these images for yourself. We will use a traditional story and specially designed activities to  ask pertinent questions about our own lives. If you have done our training in narrative approaches, then this day is a superb complement but works equally well as a stand alone experience.

SDI Taster Day

SDI Taster Day

The Strengths Deployment Inventory (or SDI) is an assessment tool based on motives and values which helps individuals and organisations improve working relationships; it helps develop better leaders, build more effective teams and reduce the costs of conflict. This is a taster day run by Jacqui Fairbrass of Trafalgar Personal Development.to give you insight into this tool. It’s not a personality profile but an assessment that taps into some of the deeper aspects of coaching: when we help our clients understand their motivations and values and thus gain a greater awareness of themselves and their behaviour and importantly, how to ‘stretch’ behaviours and communications in order to best achieve outcomes.

Dr Brian Marien on Psychological Wellbeing and Resilience

How to Improve Psychological Wellbeing and Build Resilience for Coaching Clients and Leaders

Here is some of what Brian says about the day we have planned.

https://vimeo.com/positivegroup/review/130778209/87fa5b2c72

Resilience - the psychology of human behaviour

This session will provide an evidence-based approach to building psychological resilience. It will outline relevant insights drawing on the latest advances in neuroscience, medicine, cognitive, behavioural and social psychology. It will give insights, information and approaches highly valuable to coaches and leaders.

“So what?” It will address the relevance of psychological wellbeing highlighting its powerful impact on the performance of individuals and teams - the real world applications.

Clarity of thought and cognitive fitness. There is robust evidence showing how psychological wellbeing impacts on cognitive ability. Any reduction in psychological wellbeing has a powerful impact on a range of important cognitive skills - including concentration, memory, decision making, creativity and innovation.

We will also look at the impact of psychological wellbeing on physical health, how it impacts on wide range of neuro-chemicals and neurotransmitters. Psychological states change endocrine and immune function with major implications for our physical health, morbidity and mortality.

Behaviour change – recognising the potent impact of psychological wellbeing on human behaviour and how our mood states and emotions have a potent influence on how we behave, and strongly influence how we relate to, and communicate with, others. Our behaviour can also have major implications for those we work with – ‘emotional contagion’.

The final section will be addressing what are the ‘risk factors’ and what are the ‘protective factors’ around psychological health, what are the things that we know can improve psychological wellbeing. What can help people do to stay well and/or recover from distressing life events, set-backs or periods of intense pressure?

So what can you do about it? Develop a cognitive and behavioural tool-kit. It will introduce some evidence-based tools and techniques that you can use in your executive coaching.

This is a day to add these tools and stay leading edge in your practice.

Attending the day will give 7 hours CPD.

We look forward to welcoming you along to this day.  Places are limited so please reserve your place early. Call Sue on 07711 417653 to reserve your place.
